Steelasophical

Steelasophical is the premier group for Caribbean entertainment led by the charismatic Gary Trotman.

There are many options available, from pan soloist to a twelve-piece Reggae band playing everything from background music to music for high energy dancing.

Gary Trotman -Solo Pan

Gary has positioned himself as one of the leading pan soloist performers in the UK, performing as a soloist all year round. His musical repertoire is vast, covering a multitude of styles including soca, calypso, salsa, reggae, latin rhythms, bolero, cha cha cha, rock, pop, trad jazz, and modern jazz.

His musical act is tailored to his audience and is still developing. What a repertoire! Boasting a song selection to suite any function, audience and venue, Gary plays a beautiful set of double second steel drums with four sticks, allowing him to access a greater register of notes, to play both chords and melody, giving a full sound and ensuring that not only the melodies are known to each song, but its entire chord structure and chord progression.

Technology plays a part in his solo performances, as he produces all of his backing tracks at his Steelasophical studio. Tracks are played back via the robust 250-watts Fender Passport self- contained PA system. The result sounds like a full band performing. Gary's soft-handed playing technique has been tailored to suite background music in the same light as a solo pianist.
