Stevie Dee
“You have just got to be professional
if you want to succeed in this business”, insists Stevie Dee,
considered by many people in the London Club circuit to be one of
the top DJ’s on the scene today.
Stevie, from County Caver
in Ireland, has over 10 years’ experience slaving over a hot
turntable and still maintains that he gets the same thrill from performing
at gigs now as he did when he first started out at local halls and
private parties.
Performing is definitely
the right term to describe Stevie’s exuberant style, which is
totally opposite to the anonymous style of many DJ’s. He’s
more likely to be directing the audience in dance movements or appearing
in fancy dress.
Moving to London in 1989,
Stevie quickly gained residencies at the New Cross Venue and Stockwell
Swan, and established club nights ‘Love Shack’ and ‘Freak
Out’ as the most popular 70s/80s party club nights in South
London. Stevie has also completed a two-year radio journalism course
at Vauxhall College. The course included areas such as speech tuition,
studio technology, interview techniques and programme planning.
Stevie Dee’s in-demand
mobile roadshow has taken him to big events, from a celebrity party
launch of the ‘Brady Bunch’ movie at Planet Hollywood
to a fancy dress championship celebration for the players and staff
at Blackburn Rovers (even getting Kenny Dalglish to shake a leg on
the dance floor!)
