George McCrae

George McCrae gives a masterly performance of his classic songs.

George was a member of a vocal group at school that continued up until he was called upon to do Navy service. When he left he reformed the group with his wife Gwen. Soon they began a duo career recording Lead Me On. This won Gwen a solo contract with Columbia and the record that gave her sole credit made the top 40 of the R&B charts.

George started managing her career and she had a top 20 hit with For Your Love. They resumed singing as a duo, but when Gwen failed to make a recording session George sang lead on what was to prove to be a classic hit, Rock Your Baby. His follow-up made the top 20 in the UK where he had great success. George is still a major live artiste who has made successful R&B records, particularly in the UK.
