July 1972 saw the emergence of Gary Glitter as a big star and, along with the Glitter Band, he took the pop world by storm.

The Glitter Band, however, soon started to become a force in their own right, and their first solo single Angel Face reached No 4 in the charts in March 1974. This was soon to be followed by six more top twenty solo singles - the biggest success being Goodbye My Love that reached No 2, and stayed in the charts for nine weeks.
