The Tremeloes
Hear
the golden sounds from these rock legends.
The band was formed in
1959 but quickly changed the line-up, with Ken Howard transferring
from saxophone to bass, Alan Blakely moved to guitar and drums and
Dave Munden being recruited for drums. Brian Poole was the lead vocalist
by the time Rick West had superseded Graham Scott on guitar.
In 1963, they had a top
ten hit with Twist and Shout. This was quickly followed by
their No.1 Do you Love Me. After further hits with Candy
Man and Someone Someone, the band split in 1967 with
Brian Poole moving on to a solo career.
The Tremeloes recorded
separately with Len ‘Chip’ Hawkes on vocals and the hits
continued. Here Comes My Baby and the No.1 Silence is
Golden, also made the top 30 in the US. They are now very successful
both in the UK and internationally, creating the original sounds of
all their hits.
