The Troggs
The
great sounds and show from this original sixties group.
The band was signed by
Larry Page, the Kinks manager to CBS records for Lost Girl in 1966.
At the same time Reg Ball became ‘Presley’, and Ronnie
Bullins became ‘Bond’.
This publicity was part
of the formula that took Wild Thing to No. 2 and the follow-up With A Girl Like You went to No. 1. Both these made the charts
in the US.
Prior to 1968, most of
the Troggs releases were composed by Presley and were world-wide hits.
The band broke up with Briton and Staples leaving while Presley pursued
a solo career. While the band had some success in the seventies, a
decade later they reformed and are now a major live performing act.
