Kajagoogoo

Kajagoogoo originate from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

In January 1983 their debut single, 'Too Shy' was released hitting number one in the U.K. (and seven other European countries). Shortly after the release of 'Too Shy', ‘Ooh to Be Ah’ and ‘Hang on Now’ were released.

In April 1983, Kajagoogoo released their first album, ‘White Feathers’. The band quickly became teen idols and over 60,000 U.K. fans saw them play on their ‘White Feathers’ UK tour.

In August 1983, a decision was made to ‘part company’ with Limahl.
Kajagoogoo continued with Nick Beggs as the lead vocalist. In 1984 they released the album ‘Islands’.

1985 saw the departure of Jez Strode due to writing commitments for the bands 3rd album. This prompted a change of direction for Kaja, as they were now known in Europe and the USA. Steve, Stuart and Nick continued on as a 3 piece band.

In 1986, the band decided to go their separate ways after the first single. Subsequently the album was not promoted by EMI.

In October 2003, Satellite TV Station VH1 engineered a seemingly impossible task, persuading Kajagoogoo to reform the original 5-piece band for a one off television special. The resulting performance was to be part of the VH1 ‘Bands Reunited’ series.

It wasn’t until spring 2007 when an American record label contacted Nick and offered a US deal to Kajagoogoo that the boys considered doing anything else. So with things moving into place the trio set about writing a bunch of new tunes for an album for release some time in 2008 /9.

In September 2007, Bradley Snelling, organiser of the Retrofest Festival persuaded Nick, Steve and Stuart to reform Kajagoogoo's live act. Kajagoogoo opened the festival to a massive, appreciative reception.

Bradley later became instrumental in getting all 5 members of Kajagoogoo together, and in February 2008, as Kajagoogoo's new manager, Bradley arranged for Kajagoogoo to have their first photo shoot in 25 years.

2008 saw several live dates in Europe and Scandinavia. The band also wrote new material in the form of a 4 track EP titled Death Defying Headlines which was released at shows in 2008.

The band, now represented by Glenn Kelly look forward to a host of concerts in the UK and Europe as well as releasing more new material in 2009.
This is an exciting time for Kajagoogoo and their legion of loyal fans, who have hoped of a full time reunion for 25 years.
