James Cracknell
James Cracknell is a Gold medal winning Olympic oarsmen, winning top medals in both the Sydney and Athens games. Along with sporting partner Matt Pinsett he has also won the World Championships in Lucerne, retaining the title the following year and smashing the world record.
Cracknell’s next achievement saw him teaming up with Ben Fogle to complete the Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race, crossing 2,935 miles of dangerous and solitary ocean between Nelsons Dockyard in Antigua and San Sebastian. They then went on to attempt to break the world record for fastest team to reach the South Pole, an epic journey recorded by the BBC for the documentary On This Ice.
In addition to his own achievements Cracknell has presented various sporting events across the globe, including the Rugby 7s in Hong Kong, the Red Bull Air Races and the Superbowl. He is also an accomplished journalist. His after dinner speeches draw on all these experiences, addressing the long and hard road to his Olympic wins, the sacrifices he made to succeed and the character traits required to build a successful team.
