Jonathan Escapes - Escapologist
Jonathan was born in Pembrokeshire in South West Wales in 1980.
When he was seven years old he read a book about Harry Houdini. He thought he was an extraordinary character, and was truly inspired by the things he did. Jonathan decided he would try and be an escape artist, but beyond the desire, he had nobody to learn from. Jonathan started to teach himself the mechanics of locks and types of rope that are best to escape from. He practiced holding he breath in the bathtub, and put all of his efforts into emulating Harry Houdini.
He moved to London when he was 18 and acquired a degree in Drama and Theatre at Middlesex University. Once he had his degree he went to work in television, primarily as a producer. It was during this time that the production company he worked for made a one-hour special with an Escape Artist.
This reawakened the desire in him to perform, and he started to devise and film his own escapes and post them on YouTube and other similar websites. Jonathan ended up filming many more of them for broadcast on British and American Television.
Since becoming a full-time Escape Artist, Jonathan has had the opportunity to attempt lots of different escapes. He has been hanged, buried alive, and locked in a box with 200,000 bees.
Jonathan does everything for real and without trickery.
Jonathan is available to hire for corporate publicity stunts, private events, shows, cabaret, and random acts of insanity.
