Pianist - Eugene Portman
Eugene Portman is a UK based pianist who specialises in mellow jazz piano. His involvement in the contemporary and jazz music scene includes performing as a solo jazz pianist, in jazz trios, duos, quartets and bands.
Some people may also describe Eugene as a cocktail pianist or lounge pianist. His main influences are jazz pianists like: George Shearing, Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander and Dudley Moore. I play music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Burt Bacharach and all the other great writers of melodic standards. He is often hired for cocktail parties and the music he plays (sometimes called ‘dinner jazz’) is ideal for these sorts of events. However if you do require something a little more exciting he is more than able to accommodate.
Eugene is able to travel anywhere in the UK and also abroad. He has played at venues such as: The Cafe Royal, Quaglinos, The Emirates Stadium, The Royal Festival Hall Foyer, Ronnie Scott's, Jamie's Bar, and Mustard's Bistro. As well as performing at venues he also plays at lots of parties, barbecues and functions at private homes.
Eugene is frequently booked as a wedding pianist and is also available for any party, fashion show, trade show, civil partnership, corporate event, product launch, conference, store opening or any other special occasion. The advantage of having a jazz pianist, jazz trio, duo or any other live musician for a wedding or civil partnership is that they can provide the music for the ceremony, drinks reception and the wedding breakfast.
Live music is always a focal point at corporate events and Eugene can provide music that fits the mood and ambience of the event. He is flexible in that he can provide a variety of line ups from solo piano right up to a jazz band.
Eugene also plays for quite a number of themed evenings and Eugene has provided music for the "Quantum Of Solace" Premier cocktail party in London which was organised by Heineken International who now sponsor James Bond Films.
